POLICY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 of the United Nations General Assembly prohibits discrimination against individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Sri Ramkrishna College of Education (SRCE) is against all kinds of discrimination on any grounds including disability. SRCE likes to implement a comprehensive and inclusive teaching and learning environment in which debilitated students and employees are not upset or treated harshly. The institute intends to design its administrations, curriculum delivery and activities accessible to the students. These guidelines apply to the College Management, Faculty and Staff.

DISABILITY
Disability is a term that includes motor and sensory limitations (e.g., mobility, vision, or hearing impairments). It also includes disabilities resulting from chronic illnesses and syndrome, invisible disabilities, such as psychological and emotional disorders, learning disabilities, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, arthritis, epilepsy, Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI), and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)are also included in the term disability. Many disabilities vary in degree and type of limitation; therefore, accommodations must also vary and should be tailored to the needs of the individual.

PERSON WITH DISABILITY
This means a person with long term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairment which, in interaction with barriers, hinders his full and effective participation in society equally with others -
PERSON WITH BENCHMARK DISABILITY [PwD]
PwD means a person with not less than forty per cent. of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority

RIGHTS AND ENTITLEMENTS

The Administration shall ensure that the persons with disabilities enjoy the right to equality, life with dignity and respect for his or her integrity equally with others.

The Authorities shall take steps to utilize the capacity of persons with disabilities by providing appropriate environment.

No person with disability shall be discriminated on the ground of disability, unless it is shown that the impugned act or omission is a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim.

No person shall be deprived of his or her personal liberty only on the ground of disability.

The College shall take necessary steps to ensure reasonable accommodation for persons with disabilities.

DUTY OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION SUCH AS NCP

Admit them without discrimination and provide education and opportunities for sports and recreation activities equally with others.

Make building, campus, and various facilities accessible.

Provide reasonable accommodation according to the individual's requirements.

Monitor participation, progress in terms of attainment levels and completion of education in respect of every student with disability
